VEEP ASSURES EC OF GOVERNMENT SUPPORT

The Vice President, John Mahama has reassured the public that the government will facilitate the operations of the electoral commission to ensure transparent elections.
He stated that government has also put in place all the necessary security measures in place to ensure that Ghanaians are safe during the elections.
He made these statements at Gomoa Pomadze during the opening ceremony of the 80th annual national convention of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission in Ghana.
He made a passionate appeal to religious leaders to play their role in the upcoming general elections so as to ensure free, fair and transparent elections
He also urged the religious bodies to remain non partisan and neutral in the elections.

The NPP National Chairman, Jake Obetsebi Lamptey urged religious bodies to play an active role in assuring that elections are peaceful.
He said political parties are competing to be servants therefore all political parties should accept the results of the elections and work to ensure peace in 2012.
