MP PROPOSE SPECIAL LAW TO CHECK MONECRACY IN POLITICS

The Member of Parliament for Ajumako-Enyan-Esiam, Mr Cassiel Ato Forson has proposed a law to empower the Electoral Commission to set up a funding unit for each candidate for an election.
According to him, the funds will be given to each individual for campaign but if expenditure of candidate exceeds the funds limit the candidate would be disqualified from the elections.
He gave this suggestion after some NPP parliamentary aspirants revealed that they spend more money on primaries than parliamentary elections.
According to some of them, before you successfully win a seat to contest on the ticket of the NPP you would have sped more than GHC3 million.
But the NDC member Mr. Ato Forson tells Adom news that if the country continue to allow those with fat monies to win power it will deprive the nation of knowledgeable candidates who might want to contribute to development.

End.
