VLADIMIR BLAST WEST, AU OVER ROLE IN LIBYA

The Head of the International Affairs Department at the University of Ghana, Dr Vladimir Antwi-Danso has blasted the West especially NATO and the UN for their role in worsening the situation in Libya. He explains that the UN should have resorted to negotiation with Muammar Gaddafi rather than assisting the rebels with arms and weapons to attack Gaddafi and his family. Dr. Vladimir Antwi Danso made these statements in reaction to Col. Muammar Gaddafi’s statement that he will continue to fight his enemies, in an audio message carried by a loyalist TV channel. In a 10 minutes audio message Gaddafi says the Libyan people cannot kneel, cannot surrender, we are not women hence he will not surrender. He also says the AU failed to resolve the issues in Libya when they held an emergency meeting last week. But Dr Vladimir Antwi Danso believes that due to the one sided position taken by the Western countries it will be difficult for peace to prevail.

GHANAIANS RESPECT PROF FRIMPONG BOATENG MORE THAN PREZ ATTA MILLS – ALHAJI BATURE

The Managing Editor for the Hajj Newspaper, Alhaji Bature Idrissu this morning shocked listeners when he disclosed that Ghanaians respect Prof Kwabena Frimpong Boateng more than President Atta Mills. He added that regardless of people’s political, religious and tribal affiliations, Ghanaians revere Prof Frimpong Boateng more than the president of the Republic of Ghana adding that it was wrong for the professor to have been treated the way he was. He maintained that the sacrifices Prof Frimpong Boateng has made for the country necessitated his honorary title at the National Cardiothoracic Center (NCC). Alhaji Bature Idrissu said this when speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem when he made this observation. He however agreed with president Mills that the professor had slighted him for not waiting for instruction from the president before packing out of his office. Rather, Alhaji Bature said the professor should have shown respect to the president, consult him before hurriedly leaving office. Asked about the political affiliation of the cardiothoracic surgeon, The Editor of Alhaj newspaper said Prof. Boateng was of the view that the Prof. destroyed his reputation with his political ambition adding that he should have resigned long ago realizing that there was the possibility of conflict of interest.
