Former minister urges government to initiate policies to help achieve development

The Former Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Kwadwo Adjei-Darko has cautioned the government to stop borrowing and holding bilateral talks but to initiate policies to wrestle the unemployment situation in the country.
He stated that President Mills have failed to come out with a single policy in his third term in office. He added that the government under President Mills has already lost direction in shaping the so-called Better Ghana Agenda.
Kwadwo Adjei-Darko stated that unemployment have increased because the government has failed to initiate developmental policies for the country.
The former minister under the erstwhile Kufour’s administration made these comments in an interview with Adakabre Frimpong Manso on Dwaso Nsem on Monday.
Kwadwo Adjei-Darko warned the government of taking praise for the development of the banking sector, he said it was the initiative of the NPP government who placed good economic conditions for the banking sector to develop.
He noted that the under the NPP government there was an increase in the number of banking institutions to about 27 banks in the country.
He mentioned that former President Kufuor initiated policies like National Youth Employment programme, National Health Insurance Scheme, School Feeding Programme, Capitation Grants all in efforts to help the country to achieve its direction.
However, in a sharp reaction, the Communication Direction at the Presidency, Mr Koku Anyidoho stated that some people have failed to open their eyes at the work and projects commissioned under President Mills in his regional tour.
He reiterated that Politicians usually find it difficult to see praises to their opponent especially when they are achieving much.
Commenting on the Policies under President Mills, Mr Koku Anyidoho stated that the government has initiated policy to fight cocaine and illicit trade at the major border areas.
He said the President has subjected himself and government officials to strict body checks at the airports. He added that the government has issued a policy to turn schools under trees to brick and block buildings.
Mr. Koku Anyidoho stressed that governance is a continuous efforts to continue the projects and policies by former governments.
Koku Anyidoho emphasized that there are number of good policies on paper which will be implemented very soon.

PRESIDENT MILLS PAYS PRIVATE VISIT TO CENTRAL REGION

The Communication Director at the Presidency, Koku Anyidoho has disclosed that President Mills used the fathers’ say to visit relatives in his hometown.
He said the President choose his fathers’ hometown Kissi to interact with family members and donate some computers to the local primary school.
Mr. Anyidoho was speaking to Adom News in an interview with Adakabre Frimpong Manso after which the president and his family released 15 bedroom building to the Local primary school to support teacher’s accommodation.

Meanwhile, information reaching Adom news desk indicates that President Mills will continue his tour to the Central region this week.
