Governance expert condemns violence in Africa

The Head of Graduate School of Leadership and Governance at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), Dr Kwaku Osei Akom has condemned the recent pockets of violence in Africa.
He says the recent violence in Libya, Tunisia, Cote D’Ivoire, Egypt and recently Burkina Faso does not help in the economic and social development of the continent.
Dr. Kwaku Osei Akom, who has just returned from observing the Nigerian elections, says the recent skirmishes on the continent are part of the learning process in practicing democracy.
He says democracy has become a challenging practice in Africa hence the numerous violence in Africa.
He blames African leaders for contributing to the violence, saying that some of them are corrupt and that invokes violent reaction from their people.
Dr. Osei noted that African peoples no longer tolerate ‘one man rule’.
But he believes democracy will eventually succeed in Africa.

End.
