MP SECURES CONTRACT FOR ROAD PROJECT AFTER YOUTH DEMONSTRATED

The Member of Parliament for Nkwanta South in the Volta Region, Gershon Gbediame has disclosed that the Ministry of Roads and Transport has awarded the contract for the construction of the Nkwanta road following the demonstration by the youth. He described as worrying the fact that the initial contract was awarded last May but financing was not forthcoming. According to him, they have been able to secure pre-finance loan from the European Union. Gershon Gbediame was reacting to demonstration by the youth in the Nkwanta District stating that no Politian including him to make an attempt to campaign in the town towards the 2012 general elections. They claim successive governments including the NPP and NDC failed on their promise to construct the Nkwanta-Kpasah road. The youth also accused the Member of Parliament, Mr. Gershon Gbediame for not being of help to the district. But Gershon Gbediame advised the people to exercise patience with the government on road projects. He however blamed the previous NPP government for neglecting the road project that was started by the last NDC administration.
