KYEBI CHIEFS DENY KNOWLEDGE OF EXTRA GOLD WATER POLLUTION


The Kyebi Gyasihene in the Eastern Region Nana Barimah Amoako Darko Ampem says the chiefs and elders are yet to receive official complaints from the people of Apampamtua of the alleged pollution of water bodies by Extra Gold Mining Company.
He explains that they only heard the issue on Adom News this morning during Dwaso Nsem.
He blamed both parties for not informing the elders in the area before the issue got worsened.
Nana Barimah Amoako Darko-Ampem was reacting to the citizens’ threat to deal with Extra Gold Limited for taking their lands without the due process, polluting their rivers and using foreign dogs to harass them.
The Chief stated that they have not granted Extra Gold Company the go ahead to pollute water bodies.

Nana Barimah Amoako Darko Ampem assured the people that the palace will make sure the mining legislations are duly applied.
