THREATS AGAINST CHIEF JUSTICE IS A THREAT AGAINST DEMOCRACY-METHODIST BISHOP

THREATS AGAINST CHIEF JUSTICE IS A THREAT AGAINST DEMOCRACY-METHODIST BISHOP
2.06.2011 SAM
The Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church of Ghana, Rt Rev Prof. Emmanuel Asante says the recent series of attack on the Chief Justice hinders the progress of democracy in the country.
He explains that the recent threat should be considered as a national security issue because the threat infringes on the independence of the judiciary.
According to him, Ghana’s democracy will be retrogressing if such threats are labeled to the third arm of Government.
Rt Rev Prof Emmanuel Asante was speaking at The Think Africa Forum in honour of Ghana’s 51st Republic Anniversary in Accra.

He added that Ghana cannot develop if card bearing members are only employed by the government.
Rt Rev Prof Emmanuel Asante urge government to employ people base on competencies and not because of the loyalty to the party.

End.
