FISHERMEN COUNCIL PREDICTS PIRACY ALONG COASTAL BELTS

The Central Regional Chairman for the National Canoe Fishermen Council, Nana Joojo Solomon has predicted the indulgent of pirates along the coastal belts if the government fails to secure fishermen in the coastal belt.
According to him, the establishment of the oil and gas industry has threatened fishermen as they have been limited to area for fishing.
He explains that the drilling of gas and oil in the western region has since increase social vices like prostitution, armed robbery and recently homosexuality.
Nana Joojo Solomon task the government to secure the about 3 million fishermen by providing them with equipments necessary for fishing along the oil exploration areas.
He stress that without government involvement in securing the fishermen, the fishing industry might collapse in the next ten years.

He accuses the government of neglecting the views of fishermen when taking crucial decisions about the industry.
Nana Joojo Solomon urges government to involve grass root fishermen on legislative instrument that will affect them.
