Rome was not built in a day; government will deliver - Koku Anyidoho

The Director of Communications at the Castle, Koku Anyidoho has stated that the fact that projects are not necessarily been undertaken in the nation’s capital does not mean that government is not working.

Mr. Anyidoho says government is focusing more on fulfilling the needs of the most deprived areas across the country.
Koku, who is with President Mills on his tour of the Eastern Region, was speaking on Dwaso Nsem on Adom FM on Wednesday about the visit.

According to him, the government is making sure that the developmental cake is spread across the nation so Accra cannot be the main focus;

He added that the government’s handiwork is being felt more in the rural areas where infrastructural development is going on heavily in the various districts and towns and people who have travelled widely in the regions can attest to that fact.

He cited projects that have been completed including the new Tarkwa Hospital, a new Midwifery Training School at Goaso and a Nursing Training College in Techiman all in the Brong Ahafo Region, Jirapa, Nandom, Lawra and other areas in the Upper East Region are benefiting from five new hospitals among others.

Koku Anyidoho stated that even though some people have refused to see what the President is doing, after President Mills’ first four years, all his good works will be known.

He said President Mills is not distracted by the insults and jokes aimed at tarnishing his reputation and remains focused and determined to fulfill his Better Ghana agenda in his first term in office.

He urged people to be patient with President Mills because Rome was not built in a day and that by the time the four years is over, the government would have delivered on its promises.

Koku Anyidoho however rubbished allegations that President Mills is only undertaking developmental projects in some parts of the region because it is a strong hold of the opposition NPP.

He disclosed that previously unmotorable roads in the Akyem Abuakwa constituency, considered to be NPP flag bearer, Nana Akufo-Addo’s stronghold, have been worked on, while a steel bridge has been constructed in Abuakwa Adukrom among other projects including educational infrastructure, health facilities that have been carried out or are yet to be commenced in the Region.

Eastern Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Julius Debrah also debunked the allegation saying the projects have been spread across the region and that President Mills’ visit during which he will commission various developmental projects will prove that assertion wrong.

He said even though the Region is regarded as a strong hold of the NPP, thousands of people welcomed President Mills on Tuesday when he began his visit.

Mr. Debrah also disclosed that they are putting together a strategy that will see them capture the Eastern Region in the 2012 elections.
