GOVERNMENT NEGOTIATES 30 PER CENT OF LOCAL CONTRACTS FOR CABLE MANUFACTURERS

The Deputy Minister of Energy, Alhassan Fusieni says government has negotiated for 30 per cent of local content participation in the execution of electrical contracts in the energy sector.
He explains that local cable manufacturers will be given a 30 per cent in all wiring of state constructions to promote the local industry.
The Minister gave the assurance when he led a delegation from the Energy Ministry to pay a working visit at Nexans Kablemetal Ghana Limited in Tema.
Alhassan Fusieni says the initiative is to protect local market from sub-standard and under pricing foreign producers such as the Chinese and the Indians.
He explains that the influx of sub-standard cables have led to many fire outbreaks in homes and industries.

Mr. Alhassan Fuseini also emphasized plans for the rural electrification project, saying that by 2030 the whole country will have access to electricity.
The Managing Director of Nexans Kablemetal Ghana Limited, Dr Emmanuel Annan urges the government to pass the local Content Policy to promote and secure Ghanaian jobs and future prosperity of the country.
