EARLY SUCCESSES ‘DESTROYED’ BISHOP OBINIM- PSYCHIATRIST

Chief Psychiatrist at the Accra Psychiatric Hospital, Dr Akwasi Osei has attributed the challenges faced by the head pastor of the International God’s Way Church Bishop Daniel Obinim to his inability manage the fame and glory that he had. Dr. Osei says rather than being condemned without redemption, Bishop Obinim needs psychological help to handle the trauma associated with the sex scandal. Among the help needed according to Dr. Osei is for the Bishop to leave the public eye and media attention for a while to allow other pastors to handle the church until the issue is dealt with. He also site his youthful age as a factor in his demise especially if the person lacks the proper counseling. Dr Osei says a ‘JSS lever’ is not likely to manage such huge fame and glory. He however said his flaws and error does not mean he doesn’t have the power of God. Commenting on what he recommends to help Bishop Obinim, the psychologist stated that Bishop Obinim needs a psychologist to support him. He added that Bishop Obinim at this stage of his career needs a counselor to talk to him on his plans and actions. Dr Osei believes that inability of the child walk and speak is due to likely to be from cerebral palsy rather than anything to do with Obinim. He says the cerebral palsy is the difficulty in child birth and thus affecting oxygen supply to the baby. He said such a child will not be able to walk and will be intellectually subnormal. Meanwhile, the husband of Obinim’s ‘girlfriend’, Pastor William Fobih says the child is responding to treatment. He says a team of medical and traditional doctors are helping with the medical care of the child.
