AU IS STILL RELEVANT-DR. OSEI AKOM

The Head of Graduate School of Leadership and Governance at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), Dr Kwaku Osei Akom has rubbish perception that the African Union (AU) has failed and not relevant in its establishment.
He explains that the African Union has played various roles to bring peace and promote unity in countries like Liberia, Kenya, Somalia, and Cote d’Ivoire.
Dr. Osei Akom stated that even though the AU might have some challenges it has relatively chalked some successes on the continent.
He tells Adom news that the influence of former colonial masters on some countries has made created a big challenge for the AU.
According to him, even in this era some African countries still rely on their colonial masters for financial support hence making it difficult for the AU to operate as it was established.

In other related story, Mr Albert Amekudzi, International Relations Secretary of the Ghana Union of Professional Students (GUPS), has urge African Leaders to work towards a strong, vibrant and united continent, and to resist neo-colonialism in Africa.
He says despite the enormous natural resources at their disposal, without unity, Africa cannot experience any sustainable development.
The GUPS asked President Muamar Gaddafi, rebels and North Atlantic Treaty Organisation forces in Libya to cease fire and adopt a new and different strategy in resolving the political crisis in that country, to end the killing of innocent civilians.
Again, as part of the African Union day today, Chelsea star Micheal Essien is organizing a peace game between African XI and World XI at the Accra Sports Stadium at 3pm.
