DRIVERS STRANDED IN ADOMI AS HIGHWAYS DIVERT ROUTES

DRIVERS plying to and from the Adomi Bridge have been left stranded for hours due to the rehabilitation project which will last for five weeks.
They claim that they were not notified about the new arrangement for plying the road hence have not been allow to use the bridge.
But the Director of Bridges of the Ghana Highway Authority, Owusu Sekyere Antwi says from today, drivers plying the route from the Northern region and the northern portions of the Volta region will have to divert through the Asikuma-Ho-Adidome route to Sogakofe before continuing to or from Accra.
He explains that they are closing it from 7am to 9 am and then 9 am to 11 am, they will open it. The director of Bridges says they will be closing it and opening it after every two hours”.
The Ghana Highway Authority will close down the Adomi Bridge to pave way for survey works ahead of its rehabilitation.
THE DIRECTOR OF Bridges at the Ghana High Authority Owusu Sekyere Antwi says the closure of the Adom bridge will not cause any major problem to the public but emergency measures has been put in place to make it easier for people to use the road.
