FOOD INCREASE FOR INMATES WILL REDUCE ‘SEX FOR FOOD’

THE Immediate-Past Director General of the Ghana Aids Commission, Prof Awuku Amoah has recommended to the prisons service to increase the food given to inmates to reduce the HIV/AIDS cases in the prisons.
He explains that if the prisons service increase the daily food to the inmates there would be a drastic reduction of sexually affected illness in the prisons.
Prof Awuku Amoah says apart from sexual intercourse the inmates are also affected with the sharing of razor blade and needles.
Professor Awuku made these comments when the Ghanaian Observer newspaper publish that inmates at the Sekondi Prisons demand Gari for sex hence the increment in HIV cases in the prisons.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Public Relations director of the Ghana Prisons service, Francis Agyire Kwakye denied the publication at the Sekondi prisons.
He explains that the Prisons officer on duty make sure that the right thing are done.
He says the Prisons service has draft a paper to the government to increase the daily food for the inmates. Which will make every inmates have at least GHC2 a day.
