THE GREAT ESCAPES IN THE BIBLE

Some people might have escape from accidents, death, or even sickness but can we escape from the power and destiny of God? Let’s examine some of the great attempts to escape from the Lord and the consequences.
Jacob --Fled from his father-in-law, Laban after almost 20 years of service. The Effects- He allowed Jacob to return home for Isaac’s death and for reconciliation with Esau- Genesis 31:1-55.
Moses- Fled Egypt after killing an Egyptian in defence of a fellow Israelite. The effect: saved his life and began another part of God’s training.
Lesson: God fits even our mistakes into his plan. Exodus 2: 11-15
The Spies from Israel: Escaped searches in Jericho by hiding in Rahab house. Effects- Prepared the destruction of Jericho and preserved Rahab who would become one of David’s and Jesus ancestors.
Lesson: Gods plan weaves lives together in a pattern beyond our understanding. Joshua 2:1-24
Israelites: Escaped Egypt after 430 years in slavery. Lesson: God will not forget his provider. Exodus 2:11-15
Samson: escape a locked city by ripping the gates from their hinges. Lesson without dependence on God even great ability are wasted. Judges 16:1-3
Elijah: Fled into the wilderness out of the few of Queen Jezebel. Lesson: Even at the moments of real succession or personal weakness and our greatest challenges. I Kings 19:1-18
Peter: Freed from prison by an angel. Saved peter for God’s further plans for his life. Lesson-God can use extraordinary means to carry out his plan often after we least expect it. Acts 12:1-11

FINANCE COMMITTEE MEMBER CREDIT KUFOUR FOR POVERTY REDUCTION RATINGS

The Deputy Ranking Member on the Finance Committee, Ignatius Baffour Awuah has credited the former President Kufour administration for the reduction of poverty over the last period.
He stated that President Kufour and the NPP strategize good poverty eradication policies to help minimize the rate of poverty especially in the rural and deprived areas.
Ignatius Baffour Awuah explains that the poverty rate in the country as at the time the NPP left office the poverty level was 28 per cent but the figures has increase to 30 per cent.
He blamed the Mills government for the increment stating that there refuse to continue with the poverty reduction policies they inherited.

NDC WESTERN CAUCUS URGES SUPPORT FROM NPP FOR $3BN LOAN

The NDC Caucus of Parliament is calling on their colleagues from the Minority to support and approve the $3bn loan being contracted from China.
The MP for Aowin Mathias Kwame Ntow in an interview with Adom news indicated that at least $1.8bn of the money will be used to undertake various projects in the Western region.
He mentions projects such as the expansion road networks; establish a gas storage facility, construct new rail line from Western to Kumasi among other projects.

Meanwhile, the minority Member of Parliament for Amenfi West in the West Region, Joseph Boahen Aidoo says he supports the loans and the projects but due diligence must be done to ensure that the loan is in the interest of Ghanaians
He explains that the government cannot secure loans to pay in the next 50 years without examining the conditions of the contracts.

CONCERN TEACHERS SLAMS NEW DEATH AND RETIREMENT BENEFITS

The Coordinator of the Coalition of Concern Teachers (CCT), Norbert Gbogbotsi has slammed the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) officials for increasing the death and retirement benefits rather than their monthly salaries.
He explains that the GNAT must be concern with the living conditions of the teachers and not focusing on their retirement and death benefits.
He stated that GNAT executives should amend the constitution to favour the rights of teachers and not for the selfish gains of GNAT officials.
He made these statements when The National Council of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) met at KNUST, Kumasi to approved new Death and Retirement Benefits for its members.
Acting President of GNAT, Mr. Samuel Doe Alorbia announced that they have death and retirement benefits have been increased from GH.¢ 500.00 to GH.¢1,000.00 effective January 1, 2012.
But Norbert Gbogbotsi wants the GNAT executives to increase their wages.

Norbert Gbogbotsi also disclose that the about 10,000 teachers have complete registration to the controller generals department to opt of GNAT.
He explains that by the close of next month the deal will be sealed.

PARENTS FRUSTRATED OVER WASSCE RESULTS DELAY

Some parents whose children results are been withheld by the West African Examination Council (WASSCE) are expressed their frustration over the delay of the results.
The frustrated parents are appealing to the examination council to fasten up investigations among the 81 schools and the 849 students so that their wards can apply to the university.
Some of the parents at the Saint Francis Senior High school and Manfe Methodist Girls in the Eastern Region spoke to Adom news.

Some students whose release has been withheld are appealing to the council to release the results early for them to continue their education.
Meanwhile, the Public Relations Officer of the West African Examination Council (WASSCE), Agnes Teye-Cudjoe stated that there is no period for which the examination council will complete findings in the 81 schools and the 849 students.
