The Former Ashanti Regional Minister, Samuel Nuamah Donkor has denied THE TIDE newspaper story that former President Rawlings has used him as the front man to build a mansion in the Akwapim Ridge at GHC 4 Billion.
He explains that he acquired the property because of his 30 year experience in Parliament and holding other ministerial appointments.
Samuel Nuamah Donkor states that those people behind the story want to tarnish his image.
According to him, those who want to ‘kill’ the party will not succeed in publishing false information about personalities in the party.
He made this statement in an interview with Adakabre Frimpong Manso on Dwaso Nsem today.
The former Ashanti Regional Minster, Samuel Nuamah challenge authorities to investigates the owner of the mansion.
Rather he said the Mr. Rawlings had earlier showed interest in acquiring a plot of land but could not get it.
Samuel Nuamah said some people encroach the land which prevented former President Rawlings to get full ownership of the land.

ASHANTI REGIONAL CHAIRMAN RECEIVE DEATH THREATENS PRIOR TO JUNE 4
The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress, Dr. Yaw Owusu Bimpeh has disclosed his shock at text messages threatening to kill him before the July congress in Sunyani.
Dr. Yaw Owusu Bimpeh says he believes the anonymous death threats are aimed at intimidating him to support certain candidates at congress.
He cited particularly his support for President Mills ahead of the congress as the main reason for the treats he is receiving.
He condemned such threats adding that such practices will affect the unity of the party especially as the party seeks a second term in office.
He made these comments in an interview with Adakabre Frimpong Manso on Dwaso Nsem.
He repeated his support for president Mills adding that it has become a convention to allow the incumbent president to represent the party without a contest and does not allow why the former first lady is contesting the flag bearer.
Meanwhile, the Asante regional secretary of the NDC, Joseph Yamin says he suspects certain dubious people to behind the threats based on the position taken by the chairman.
Joseph Yamin explained that though he does not support the idea of party executives endorsing candidates, he believes that the party constitution as they were adopted at the La congress should be observed.

PRESIDENT MILLS WOULD HAVE BEEN HUMILATED IF HE HAD GONE TO KUMASI – ABLAKWA
A Deputy Minister of Information, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa says President Mills would have been humiliated if he had been present at the commemoration of the June 4 uprising in Kumasi on Saturday.
According to him, from what had transpired at the Jubilee Grounds on Saturday; including former President Rawlings and his entourage turning the ceremony into a campaign platform for Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, President Mills made the right decision to deliberately absent himself from the annual June 4 celebration.
Okudzeto Ablakwa says his absence notwithstanding, President Mills’ still upholds the ideologies of June 4.
The Deputy Minister tells Adom News that the ideas of June 4 which are probity, accountability and transparency were unfortunately not highlighted in the celebration.
He says the constitution of the National Democratic Congress mandates any member to celebrate the day but if the Rawlingses are going to use it as one of their campaign platforms, then they have unfortunately fallen short in understanding the true meaning of the day.
He says June 4 is bigger than Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings and her husband for them to use it as a tool to undermine the reputation of other party fellows.
Commenting on the allegations of corruption level against the government by former President Rawlings during his speech, Okudzeto Ablakwa challenged former President Rawlings to come out with evidence to support his claim.
He says it would be in the interest of the nation if Mr. Rawlings comes out with evidence to support the allegations he made against some top government officials.
He reiterated that without clear evidence it will be difficult for the government or any individuals to take action against those names mentioned.

NPP TO ANNOUCE RUNNING MATE IN JULY 2012
The Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akomea, says the party will announce a running mate for Nana Akufo-Addo in July 2012.
He says that the Running Mate position is not an elective one whereby campaigning and canvassing of vote is required so party members should stop rallying behind certain candidates for the position.
Nana Akomea explains that at the end of National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held on 24th May, 2011, it was decided that no individual or group of persons should be heard or seen to be canvassing for a particular person to be chosen as the Running Mate of Nana Akufo-Addo, the flag bearer of the NPP.
He assures supporters of the party that there are guidelines in choosing a running mate and the party would ensure that these guidelines would be diligently followed and an appropriate, suitable and acceptable person would be announced as Running Mate by July 2012.

Rawlings wants to stage another coup - Boakye Gyan
A former ally to Ex-President Rawlings and a key member of the 1979 June 4 uprising, Major (Retd) Boakye Gyan, has alleged that the former President wants to stage another coup.
According to the security expert, Mr. Rawlings’ constant hacking away at previous and current governments for apparent inaction, corruption among others shows that he is preparing grounds for another coup.
He was speaking on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem on Monday on former President Rawlings’ speech during the commemoration of the June 4 uprising in Kumasi over the weekend.
In his speech, the former President is quoted as saying “It is time to take up the party, government and the country, clean them and hand them over to a more responsible leader.”
And Major Boakye Gyan says those statements should not be taken lightly because being a former soldier and an ally to the
Rawlingses; he understands the implications of those comments attacking both the ruling and past governments.
He said Mr. Rawlings’ labeling of President Mills a failure even before his tenure in office ends and his calling former President Kufuor a corrupt leader and a thief sums up his intention to take over the ruling of the country by using his wife as a tool.
He chastised the ex-President for wanting the whole country to believe that his administration was the best ever in history of the country.
He also stated that the former President should be summoned to The Hague to answer for the overthrow of a constitutionally elected government of the late Dr Hilla Limann.
When asked whether he is afraid of Mr. Rawlings, Osahene Boakye Gyan said he wasn’t adding “only one bullet can kill me”.
